I am on Yaz, I have been for a year or so now. I just got prescribed Amoxicillin for strep throat. Will the antibiotics alter the effectiveness of my birth control? I just tried to look it up, but every answer was different.

Antibiotics DO affect your birth control pills. If you will be engaging in sex in the next few days, you must use back-up methods. You need a back-up in the meantime, and once you have finished your antibiotics, you need a back-up for 7 days afterwards.

Yes, it will. I know the first one said no. Any antibiotic will affect birth control. Use a back up method for a while.
