Now that I’ve realized my potential from Adderall (I’m prescribed BTW), I want to be able to reach that point of depth and critical thought without the stimulant. I feel like if I can do something on Adderall, then I am innately capable of the same depth of performance without the drug. But that never seems to be the case.

It is an amphetamine based substance. Speed as it used to be called. If anyone took amphetamines, they’d be able to think more clearly, hence why so many college students use it as an aid to study (albeit illegally). Therefore, one can only assume that this drug is creating a chemical imbalance; an abnormal brain state (which you experience as depth of thinking), as opposed to remedying a pathological chemical imbalance.
