my mother has been seen by 2 neuropsychologists who keep saying she has alzheimers dementia. she is 61 yrs old. 2 dtrs ar rns and know that their mother has exhibited the following symptoms: ocd, dermamillomania, and based on observation symptoms c/w depression vs alzheimers. she is aware that she has cognitive difficulties and becomes frustrated. despite being on namenda and aricept her prognosis has deteriorated reapidly. she is able to dress herself and function independenty as long as she is in her environment. very anxious when outside her nkl routine…. long term memory intact, short term memory variable. maintains sence of humor . can answer questions if not stressed.

Alzheimer’s can certainly make the patient depressed among other things. Vitamins do NOT help. Good grief.
