When will the drug Cymbalta become generic?

This drug has made a profound difference in my life but it is very expensive. Just looking to the future.

Patent expires next year. So unless they find a way to extend the patent on it, as soon as some company picks up making a generic and gets it FDA tested and aproved after that

It’s a fairly new drug, so it will probably. If you can’t afford it, talk to your doc. Some drug co’s will give you free meds, but your doc will need to fill out the paperwork. Also, because it’s fairly new, your doc may gave samples that s/he is willing to give you.

Can ask your pharmacy about Duloxetine Hcl (chemical name). Or can research for reputable online pharmacies/mail order resources

I think it is 6 or 7 years from the start. Lilly has been doing trials off and on to get it approved for chronic back pain which would extend its patent. The good news is they suspended the trial and withdrew their application with FDA. This was in the Wall ST Journal in the past couple of weeks. They may try again, its all about the money. I use it too.

not sure when it goes generic in the US but you can buy it in Europe and Mexico or online (see below)
