I get awful stage fright when doing presentations of any sort. I can’t even read a few sentences aloud in class without my voice shaking horribly. My doctor prescribed me 20mg propanolol for when I have to public speak. I have a five minute presentation coming up and would like to know how long before the presentation I should take the medicine. Possibly multiple times throughout the day?
Take it about 30 minutes before your presentation. If you have the shakes as well, you may just have a benign essential tremor. If others in your family have the same thing, then it becomes a benign Familial tremor. Just an over-sensitivity to adrenaline, so you shake at levels of adrenaline that does not bother most. Anyone can get enough adrenaline to make them shake. Re the multiple times a day part. Not too many times- you will drop your BP and slow your heart rate, and too much of a good thing is not always wonderful. Besides , the drug lasts a few hours. Twice a day should be ample Ask your doctor.
It is not that you are overwhelmed by anxiety- it is that a little anxiety makes you shake.

I don’t mean to be rude but since this is a 5 minute presentation and its not a big business meeting it might be a good idea to face your phobia. Of course you would have to practice speaking in front of the mirror at home, then in front of 1 person you’re close with, then in front of a small group and you would hopefully be ready for your presentation. Just believe in yourself. Good luck!
