What’s the difference between Zyban and Wellbutrin?

by Admin on December 16, 2009

I know that the 2 of them have bupropion, but can you use Zyban as antidepressant and Wellbutrin in smoking cessation? We have a patient who uses Wellbutrin as antidepressant but he smokes and he said he has no problems.

I would only talk with a doctor or pharmacist about that and not rely on this type of forum.

Regarding Wellbutrin, I took that very briefly for adhd (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) and it, unfortunately, made me extremely dizzy to where I couldn’t function as well as causing a quickness to anger. Another doctor later mentioned that Wellbutrin may not even be that effective for adhd anyway ;)

None, it’s just a marketing thing. Wellbutrin is marketed as an antidepressant, Zyban as a stop-smoking med, but they’re the same drug, made by the same company.
