HI
What or which negative effects have you, a loved one or friend have experienced from the drug Ambien? Was it given as an temorary or long term aid for insomnia and were there other psychiatric drugs used while taking Ambien? Examples:
Accidental overdose?
Memory loss?
Headache?
Tell me your stories..
Have you had an incident where you had taken your normal dose ,forgot then have taken one?

I haven’t really had any negative experiences from it.
The worst thing I would say is if I take it too many nights in a row (more than maybe 5 nights) then sometimes I’ll get a little tummy upset. Sometimes, I’ll also have a slight headache the next day after taking it.
As for memory loss, I haven’t had any *problems* with that. If I take it, and then don’t go straight to bed, then I’ll start to feel a bit like I’m drunk. The next day, my memories of what goes on during that time will be sketchy, but I don’t get complete "amnesia". For the most part, my behavior is fairly normal, though my husband says I get more "chatty" after I’ve taken it, and will seem like I’ve had too much to drink. (Slightly slurred speech, off-balance, things like that.) I’ve never *done* anything weird. I usually just take it, then get ready for bed. As long as I’m in bed within a half-hour or so of taking it, then nothing happens but a good night’s sleep. The "symptoms" only occur if I get distracted watching TV or something after taking it, and wait too long.
No accidental overdoses personally, but a friend of mine did accidentally take a second one about an hour after taking one, because she forgot that she took the first. She’s a little bit of a flake, anyway, though. This isn’t anything that would be entirely unusual for her to do. She’s also the type who would brush her teeth twice because she forgot she did it the first time. lol. (The second ambien didn’t hurt her.)
I used to take Ambien and what I noticed is that I would get up to eat in the middle of the night, call people (didn’t remember doing it), walk around my house, and at times acted funny.
One time, I woke up after taking Ambien and took another one!!!
I no longer take it because I got scared of what I was doing. And yes, it was a great drug to put you to sleep, but the risk of not waking up the next scared me even more.
I haven’t taken it myself, but my brother was taking it and one night he shaved his legs in front of his wife and daughter. He didn’t know what had happened until he woke up in the morning! I’ve read of other things that happen to people that take Ambien… like sleep walking and eating every night, or even driving while they are asleep! That’s crazy! Please read up on this before you decide to start taking it…. it could be dangerous.
i have been taking ambien for three years…have not had any bad side effects….never overdosed…i am very careful with my meds….i was taking lexapro which worked very well…dr changed to cymbalta for other muscle diagnosis…but i don’t feel it is working…going back tomorrow…
I have had good luck with Ambien but I do not take it regularly. I have fibromyalgia and will have periods when it is very hard to sleep because of the pain. I do not take it every night and I have not taken more than what I was supposed to. I was given the CR for awhile by my doctor but found that I was too lethargic the next day.
My best friend has had a lot of problems when she has taken it, memory loss and doing crazy things and seeing things. Every person reacts differently so be cautious.
I took Ambien & Ambien CR the side effect was I still could not sleep! It had no effect on me still had my usual 3 hours a night and with weird dream, I take Restoril now and have no bad effects with it I also have to take Trazadone with it at night as I am an Insomniac!!
