What is the difference between the prescription medication Predniosne and Medrol?
I have been on Prednisone since August 12th and am experiencing REALLY bad side effects, my doctor changed my medication to Medrol 2 days ago saying it is also a steroid but has less side effects…
What differences are there in the severity of the side effects (weight gain, moon face, joint pain swelling, acne, mood changes being the most concerning to my doctor and I)??
Thanks in advance!!

There is no difference-same drug-different company.
Different dose packaging-they are both steroids.
Hope this helped.
Without getting all fancy about it both prednisone and medrol aka methylprednisolone are glucocorticoids and have the essentially the same side effect profile (as do all glucocorticoids). Your physician likely prescribed this instead of prednisone because the physician feels that it’s pharmacology will lead to less severe side effects. Some physicians like alternate day dosing of glucocorticoids, but it’s a function of the physician’s experience with a given agent and what it’s being used to treat.
The side effects are the same, frankly, it’s just the dose, dosing schedule and potency differences which determines their severity.
