What happens if I accidentally took an expired dose of macrobid?

by Admin on September 26, 2009

Macrobid is a antibiotic used to treat UTI’s. It expired in January of 2007. Did it just lose potency, or does anyone know if the chemical makeup of the medicine changes so as to be harmful?

For sure there won’t be any guarantee that its strength and potency remain the same. So far, nothing has been mentioned that its chemical make up becomes dangerous past its expiry date.
(I know of Aspirin and Tetracyline of getting dangerous past their expiry dates.)

If anything it would lose it potency. Will not harm you. However, I must tell you that it is not a good practice to just take one or two pills of antibiotics. You can cause your body more harm by doing that. Next time maybe the antibiotic will not work. Super-infections.
