What are the signs of being addicted to Ambien?

by Admin on December 11, 2009

My doctor prescribed me the generic version of Ambien and I was wondering what the signs of being addicted are. I’ve been taking sleeping pills for a while, and I just recently switched to Ambien. I know it can be incredibly addictive. I’m an insomniac so I can’t sleep all the way through the night without a medication. (A less heard about version of insomnia.) I was wondering what the warning signs of being addicted to Ambien would be? Thank you in advance.

They are not that big of a deal. I’m prescribed dalmane for sleep, and it’s a benzo. But ambien is now considered a controlled substance. You can safely take 20 mg of ambien every night. When I was prescribed it I took 45 mg. one night, I know it was stupid. I had dreams about people wearing turbans, and carrying oil lamps. lol Basically ambien isn’t that big of a deal. You don’t need to take any more than 10-20 mg of it a night. It does have a slight feeling of an anxiety medication when you haven’t had anxiety medication for a while. There are many other medications on the market that can be abused, I wouldn’t concern yourself to much about ambien, but it is good that you worry about addiction. Just take it as it’s prescribed, you don’t want to have stupid dreams, or sleep walk or sleep drive ala Tiger Woods. Remeron is a good sleep aide. It also is an anti-depressent. If you are worried enough you can ask for remeron, or trazadone because they aren’t as addictive. I think you have nothing to worry about though.
