Naprosyn (Naproxen) is an aspirin – based analgesic, anti-fever, and anti-inflammatory medication.
Serious side effects that should be reported to your doctor as soon as possible:
-yellowing of the skin or eyes (symptoms of drug-induced hepatitis)
- gastrointestinal bleeding
- Swelling of the tongue or throat, shortness of breath (symptoms of severe allergic reaction)
- Fast or irregular heartbeat
-Blood in urine (Could signify bladder infection or kidney failure)
- Hemorrhage from injuries due to prolonged bleeding time
Less common, but still not serious:
-Ringing of the ears (tinnitus)
-loss of appetite
-diarrhea
-flatulence
-vomiting
-Sensitivity to light
-rash
-sweating
Naprosyn is a general muscle relaxer. Most people experience drowsiness, dizziness, and trouble sleeping, but there is a much wider range of more hazardous side-effects from the relativel benign such as head-aches or nausea to more serious complications such as seizures or heart-failure. I’d consult a doctor before taking it.
Please pay extra attention to the side effect on gastro-intestinal tract. It will tend to have an adverse effect on the mucosa therefore likely to lead to gastric ulcer. however, only upon long term medication, taking other medications with similar adverse effect on gastro-intestinal tract concurrently, or you have a history of gastric ulcer. The symptom will be gastric pain and bleeding-then you are likely to see the blood present in the stool, darker in color. To avoid this, try to take it after meal or with meal.
