I just had a c-section, am about to run out of my percocet and am still in quite a bit of pain when my meds wear off. My doctor prescribed Tylenol 3 and Ibuprofen 600 mg, said I could take them together, once my percocet runs out. Will taking these two together relieve my pain as much as taking one percocet does?
Taking Ibuprofen 600mg along with a Tylenol 3, is it comparable to taking one percocet?

No. But it will alleviate the constipation and mental depression caused by Percocet. You didn’t say whether you are breast-feeding or not, which will influence the decision to get off the heavy meds. Typically the doctor wants to get a patient off Percocet as soon as possible, due to long-term side effects even if you aren’t nursing. BTW, Congratulations on your baby! The pain of a c-section will lessen considerably by ten days after the birth, with or without meds, but take the Tylenol III (a combination of acetominaphen and a stronger pain reliever) and Ibuprofen. It’s a step down for you, offering some pain control just not quite as much. It will get better, I promise! Best wishes and flowers and balloons to you!
I know the Tylenol 3 should help alot, you can take motrin along with that and you might feel ok. If not and if you are in alot of pain go to another doctor and explain and they may prescribe you something stronger
