If you’re really pregnant, discontinue your bp meds for now until you can be seen by your ob. The doctor can then give you anti-hypertensive meds that are safe for pregnancy.

if you have an appt in the next day or so, then it shouldn’t harm you to not take your medication… but I wouldn’t wait any longer than that, if your appt is further out, you should call your doctor and ask if you can safely stop taking your medication until you see him. I understand your concern for your child, but how much good will you do that child if you have a stroke and die? Controlling blood pressure is vital in a pregnancy, both for the health of the mother and the child… you need to be very assertive in getting your answers from your doctor as soon as possible.

Yes, try eating foods that help to lower blood pressure such as those high in potassium (bananas are one).

I would take a home pregnancy test today and see if it says you are pregnant. They are supposedly accurate 99% of the time as early as the first day of a missed period.

The second thing I would do is call your doctor’s nurse and have her check to see if you should resume taking them for the time being.

Finally, I would watch my saturated fat and salt intake.
