I had a root canal on a lower molar in March. I’ve had excrutiating pain radiating from jaw to ear since. The dentist prescribed darvocet and said it was probably nerve damage…pretty much said "live with it",are there grounds for me to sue him to try to recover my MD, MRI and bone scan costs. The scan reveals considerable inflammation in that area and I’m now on indocin(sp) prescribed by my M.D. I have pain all the time when not taking the painkiller .. and I have to work. Any suggestions? Will I eventually get well, is it normal for the dentist to alienate himself from the problem? I’ve had to make my own referrals to find out what is wrong. Do you think extracting the tooth would resolve the issue?

If you signed a treatment consent form then there is nothing that you can do.
If not it might be worthwhile to talk to an attorney. But if the Dr did not even have you sign a consent form he must not be very proffesional.
We have patients sign them just for fillings
you will probably end up spending more money in court costs and time than its worth it. Ive had bad dental work before and there is not much you can do but go to another guy.
