I injured my shoulder, and my doctor put me on the medrol dosepack. I’ve been on it for three days, and it hasn’t helped the pain at all. And since I started taking it, I’ve vomited twice (and I have been taking with food as directed) and I’ve become extremely depressed. This can’t be normal, right?
My shoulder felt, much, much better when he had me on vicodine and prescription strength ibuprofen, and that wasn’t causing me mood problems at all.

Medrol can actually alter how your body responds to stress. It can also lower the immune system and leave you open to further problems. Saying that however, most meds have side-effects and if we read them all, we really would never take anything. It’s obvious with the vomiting though that this med isn’t agreeing with your system and you might want to look for an alternative. Vicoden isn’t good for you, it’s an opiate and is good for short-term pain relief only. It also won’t help with inflammation. Talk to your doctor about something else, maybe Ultracet which is less harsh on your system and ask if you can have the prescription strength ibuprofen too. You might just want to try the Ibuprofen alone first, this always seems to be the most effective form of pain relief for injuries and inflammation.
