Medical professionals: Can you take Singular & Claritin at the same time?

by Admin on March 14, 2010

I have seasonal allergies that normally last all year long. I used to take Claritin OTC but now my dr has me on Singular & Advair. However, I’m still noticing some symptoms to my allergies even while on the Singular. I was wondering since the two medicines have a different active drug and combat the allergy symptoms in different ways would it be ok to take both?
Thank you both. The information has been very helpful. And I’ve always taken my Singular in the morning I did not know to take it at night.

Singulair is monteleukast a leukotrine receptor antagonist. It start working after 3 to 14 days of starting therapy.should be taken in the evening regularly.
Claritin is Loratidine an antihistaminic .
Since two medicines act on different receptors ,its right to take both.

Yes. They work to alleviate the allergic process in two different ways.
