Vytorin is comprised of Zetia and Zocor, the generics for which are Ezetimibe and Simvastatin, respectively. I’m not aware of a generic that offers the same combo. But perhaps in the appropriate formulation, a dr. could prescribe the right strengths of each. But then again, you might be taking two pills instead of one.
Vytorin is a combination of ezetimibe (best known as Zetia in the United States) and the statin drug simvastatin (best known as Zocor in the U.S.). The combination preparation is marketed by Merck & Co./Schering-Plough Pharmaceuticals (joint venture) under the trade names Vytorin and Inegy.
There’s no generic for the combination drug Vytorin. Vytorin is Zetia plus Zocor. Zocor is available as a generic(simvastatin), but Zetia is not yet. Vytorin comes as 10/10, 10/20, 10/40 and 10/80. The first number is the Zetia, which comes only in 10mg dose. The second number is the Zocor.
