Is it safe to take prozac, lexapro, flexeril, & valium at the same time?

by Admin on October 6, 2011

I have a friend who is taking all four at the same time is this safe? Is it normal for a Dr. to prescribe all of these at once? Or would she have to go to different Doctors to get all these at the same time? I saw all 4 of these on her sink and am worried about her.

All are fine except taking the prozac and lexapro at the same time, they are both in the same drug class (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor or SSRI) and act in the exact same way, taking them together won’t provide any benefit but will put her at a higher risk for a serious condition known as serotonin syndrom. If you are worried talk to her, it is not at all uncommon to switch from one SSRI to another if the first one didn’t work and is quite possible she isn’t taking one of them right now
