A friend of mine recently got an ear/throat infection and has to take amoxicillin trihydrate for it. She thinks it is ok to smoke weed while on this medication, however I am concerned that it could interfere somehow.
Does anybody have an answer?

There are no interactions that I know of between the two. I am not, however, condoning the use of marijuana by answering this question.

There is no reason that weed would affect an antibiotic. They have no similar ties and don’t even deal with the same things.
She’s fine. I’ve smoked weed while on antibiotics countless times, and I still seem to function regularly.

she shouldn’t smoke while on the antibiotics.
the meds will still work, but drugs and alcohol do affect the WAY that they work, and this can lead to the body building a tolerance to that specific medication. that is a very bad thing, once the body builds a tolerance, that medication can no longer be used to treat infections because it won’t work.

My boyfriend has smoked weed while on the same antibiotic and it worked fine. Like a few others have said, there’s no reason for the weed to interfere with the antibiotic.
