Is it okay if I accidentally consumed two tablets of Claritin?

by Admin on October 12, 2009

In the morning I took one tablet of Claritin, which contains 10 mg loratadine. Now, which is about fifteen hours later, I accidentally took another tablet, forgetting that I took one already in the morning. Is this okay? Are there any severe side effects that may come of this?

You should be fine. The most common side effect of any antihistamine (like Claritin) is sleepiness, and you may experience nausea, dry mouth and eyes, and overall feeling of being drained. 10mg is the normal dose for a 24 hour period, and you are more than halfway through that, so as long as you do not experience extreme difficulty breathing, or any other symptom that really scares you, you should be fine. With severe symptoms, call the doctor on call or go to the emergency room.

There are no real bad side effects. If you take TOO many than you will get jumpy, and have a lot of energy.. Kind of like over the counter crack, but the amount you took is probably going to have no side effect on you.

Claritin is great for algeries though!!! I LOVE that stuff, only down side is the cost : (
