I have pcos and have been taking Glucophage for 10 months…Ive lost 40 pounds since I started taking it, and not sure if its because of that or some other underlining condition…Dr. said not to worry, but Im wondering if its something else? My diet hasnt changed, and Im not exerising more than before..Whats your thoughts?

In the past I was on Glucophage for 4 years because I have PCOS, and during that 4 yrs I only lost 20 pounds. I didn’t have much of an appetite when I first started taking it, but after a while I got my appetite back and gained back the 20 pounds. It is normal to lose with that med.
That is one of the side effects but it sure doesn’t work for me.
Yes. It does help many women with PCOS lose weight who weren’t able to lose weight with diet and exercise before.
glucophage can cause appetite suppression….but 40 pounds is a lot …get a second opinion
It’s a very common side effect. It helps your body to regulate insulin and as a result, use glucose and everything you put into it more efficiently. I suspect, for some people, the nausea that sometimes happens with it doens’t hurt.
At least I think in my own case, it didn’t hurt.
Good for you on the weight loss.
It’s designed for that purpose as it was meant for hypoglycemia. I have both PCOS and hypoglycemia so I know all about it. Don’t fret you’ll be OK
My husband lost 40 pounds in the first 3 months of taking it for type 2 diabetes and his doc said it was ok and it was meant to help lose weight.
I take it and I gained 13lbs in 2 months and can’t lose it. Just keep up with your doc.
I take Glucophage but I dont think its caused me to lose weight.Although I take several meds that can cause weight loss.
What mg do you take? Maybe I need to up mine LOL
