I take diovan hct 160mg but dr’s office ran out. The nurse (doctor was not in) gave me benicar 40mg instead. I won’t take it until I speak w/doc or pharmacist but wondering if anyone knows for sure if these two drugs are similar enough for me to just switch overnight. Thanks!

They are in the same class of meds, called "ARBs". However, you need to check with the doc or pharmacist about the dose.
On a side note, the nurse probably shouldn’t have made the switch without the approval of an MD/DO/PA/NP.
