How many billions did we waste uneccessarily on prescription drugs for Medicare?
Why didn’t we get generic drugs from Canada or Europe that bear a fraction of the cost that the pharmaceutical companies were asking?
Why didn’t we negotiate for a cheaper price with the pharm companies?

Because the pharmaceutical lobbyists weren’t having it.
because that would be some kind of admission that the Canadian Healthcare system is alot better then the US ( and its free for Canadians) !!
Because the pharm companies are in bed with the government. Just follow the money.
Because the politicians are controlled by those companies.
Because drugs from Canada often don’t have the trusted and tried formula they have here, and sometimes the dosages are different, When something costs less, there’s usually a reason.
Well, I was a nurse and sometimes, generic, despite the claims do not deliver the same dose of drug as the brand name.
i.e. Dilantin, anti seizure meds, caused a lot of uncontrolled seizures on the brand kind.
So do some research before you throw some mud.
The Phar corp gave W a BJ
And we got screwed in the @zz
not just generic canadian drugs but all canadian drugs are cheaper.
why didn’t he? my guess is because he was getting money from drug corporations during his election campaigns.
Why not speak to this issue in its full context? For years, Medicare has been providing high cost non-generic drugs. Bush created Medicare Part D, which uses cheaper generic alternatives, causing a savings for the Medicare program and for seniors that use it.
So you see, Bush did do what you are suggesting he should do, by importing cheaper generic drugs. It’s funny to see so many people not understanding that he did do what you are suggesting, and it’s all because of the way you worded your "question". Very misleading, I must say.
I agree with the fact that Bush should have negotiated to lower the prices, but in all fairness some generics are not exactly the same as the original. I had a really bad allergic reaction to a generic once, but never to the original. Since I had taken the name brand many times before I was not expecting this. My doctor had stated that it is common to react to a generic. Now had that been something other than an antibiotic, like heart medication for someone who cannot live without it, I wouldn’t want to take that chance.. Sometimes the cheaper route isn’t always the best. And honestly the government wastes so much money on other useless programs why not cut those so our seniors do not have to suffer. I say take from the welfare bums and give back to the hard workers of the past.. At least they earned it…
