If you just stop, blood pressure will return to pre-treatment levels. Whether there’s such a thing as "rebound hypertension" in which it goes even higher is controversial. In general, people with essential hypertension who require drug therapy will continue to need it, though non-pharmacologic treatments can sometimes lower blood pressure a few points and allow some people with mild hypertension to do without drug treatment on occasion.
Benicar is in a class of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Benicar prevents the constriction (narrowing) of blood vessels (veins and arteries).
These drugs should be taken as prescribed and if you miss a dose you should take it as soon as you can. If its close to the next dose, skip the missed one and just take the next. Never double up.
If you feel you need to stop, first contact your doctor.,
Your taking it for hypertension so you will probably have to take it for the rest of your life. It’s not the end of the world. There are ways to naturally lower BP, but you need to consult your doc about these options first. If you don’t there could be serious side effects from some of these "natural" remedies.
