I take Nexium every day. Can I take an over the counter antacid for heartburn?

by Admin on November 20, 2009

Apparently the Nexium isn’t working too well today. I haven’t eaten anything really spicy or greasy, but I suddenly got awful heartburn. Would it hurt me to take some Maalox or Tums?

Chew mint gum, or pop in a MINT altoid. Mint is a natural antacid- As is plain yogurt. Lastly, another really good remedy for tummy issues: Black Liccorice

You should be able to take a few tums just don’t over do it and if this becomes a regularly occurring problem don’t be afraid to ask your doctor to up your nexium.

You can take papaya pills for your stomach problems. You can get them at any health food store. They taste really good & you just take 4 or 5 before you eat, (chew them up).
