The effects of geodon (ziprasidone) are hard to get used to , could there be any other medication than this for auditory hallucinations ?

Best to talk to a doctor than a bunch of strangers

The newer "atypical" antipsychotics cause a lot of weight gain. The older antipsychotics do less of that, but have other problems. So you have to decide which most hateful side effect you want to minimize, then take the lowest dose possible of the alternate medication.

It is possible you are misdiagnosed. If you also get depressed or go without sleep for days on end, you might actually have bipolar, in which case there are some less nasty medication options. Misdiagnosis is very common.

I have never been able to take antipsychotics long term – I get constipated beyond belief. If you are getting problems like that, I dunno what you can do. You may have to see a specialist who can figure out ways to treat the side effects, but that can lead to a cascade of pills, all causing their own side effects and all with their own risks.
