I have an abscess tooth, and was prescribed clindamycin, is this safe?

I’ve heard alot of bad stuff about this antibiotic, and wonder if it’s ok. I have some allergies(penicillin, ampicillin, amoxicillin, and aspirin)and wonder if its still ok for me to take, please help!

It’s not part of the penicillin family. I am also allergic to every antibiotic part of the penicillin family, and I have been put on this antibiotic before. I find that antibiotics from this family are a little harder on your stomach, but that’s about it. It does help if you take it with food, or with a glass of milk as well. Did you mention your allergies before he gave you the antibiotic? My doctor or dentist always double checks my allergies before prescribing me something. If you do have questions, the pharmacist will know as well. You can call them and ask if it’s ok.

Yes, you’re safe.
Be sure to follow through with what ever treatment the dentist has planned for you or you make have the infection spread.
