I have a question about the Depo Medrol injection for dogs?

by Admin on November 20, 2009

My basset/beagle mutt has a major ear infection, so my vet gave him a Depo Medrol injection. How long does the shot last? What are its uses? I would call and ask the vet as I forgot when I had him in this morning, but they are closed.
If you have the answer I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Also, do you have any experiences with this shot?

Depo Medrol is a steroid injection used for treating inflammatory issues. It should last at least six weeks.

Not sure how long the shot lasts in dogs, but it is a medication used to keep inflammation down. That’s its basic purpose – keeps the immune system from making the infected area too inflamed and painful.

Injections May Be Made At Weekly Intervals Or In Accordance With The Severity Of The Condition And Clinical Response.

DEPO-MEDROL is an anti-inflammatory glucocorticoid for intramuscular, intra-articular, soft tissue or intralesional injection.
