How long does it take for the antibiotic Clindamycin to start working on a major tooth infection?

It is a 10 yr old root canal that is failing and my whole left side is highly infected and i going through major pain. Just curious how long before the antibiotic kicks in and brings me relief.

A couple of days, maybe? I’m not sure. I just got off of anti biotics for 4 infected teeth myself and got 2 wisdoms and 2 other teeth pulled last Tuesday. I did notice though, that the anti biotic alone didn’t work to get rid of the pain. It helped–a lot. Took the edge off. But I had to combine it with taking Ibeuprofen and Tylenol every 3 hours. My infections were pretty bad and I had to hold off on getting them fixed for a long, long time. If it gets really severe, you might be able to ask for some pain medication too. I had some spare percosets laying around, that helped for a bit… but the combo of the tylenol and ibeuprofen helped just as well. My dentist told me that it’s pretty hard to overdose on those two, so you’d be fine popping… say, 3 ibeuprofon one hour and 2 500MG tylenol 3-6 hours later. That’s what I did, it helped a lot. Hope you can get it fixed soon, teeth pain is worse than labor after getting pregnant, in my opinon.
