how long does it take for prevacid to start working in an infant with reflux?

my son is 6 weeks old and has acid reflux. we just switched him from zantac to prevacid, just wondering if anyone knows how long it takes to start releiving pain.

that is exactly what we did. I noticed a difference within a few days. You will be able to tell when he is ready for his next dose, also. My son was on Prevacid for about 8 months. I hate those melty-tab things. I found they always stuck in the inside of the syringe. Ask your dr if they have the special one that the prevacid drug rep sometimes bring to the office. It works way better than the one we got at the pharmacy! Don’t worry- it does get better!

It took about 2 days to start helping my DD and it was GREAT from that day forward. I did notice that you could tell it was almost time for another dose about an hour before because she would start screaming again. Hope everything works out for you!

We started my son on Zantac yesterday and noticed a considerable difference by the second dose. It’s different for each baby and the severity of the reflux.
