How long does it take for Paxil to become fully effective?

by Admin on November 18, 2009

I started taking 20mg of Paxil two weeks ago for anxiety, and one week ago my doctor said I could start taking 30mg a day.

How long does it take for Paxil to become fully effective?

It normally will take 2-4 weeks to get into your system. All people are different and different meds affect people in all ways. But 2-4 week is the typical time. Also switching you from 20mg to 30 mg is normal, they always start you on something low, and then gradually increase your dose.

There’s no set answer, as far as I know. Plan on maybe a couple weeks. There’s also the matter of determining the correct dosage, so you’ll probably be started out low, then if that doesn’t work you’ll be slowly ramped up.

One to four weeks. Doctors will usually start you off with a low dosage and then increase it as needed.

At least 4 weeks.

Paxil is a good medication but the effects a are not blatenly obvious like xanax.

As you know, Paxil takes time to build up in your system. It does not give you a euphoria sensation or an instant ‘chill’ like quick fix meds.

You won’t really notice the affects. But, in a few weeks you will realize that you haven’t felt anxious for awhile. That’s when you know it’s working.

Good luck.

Everyone is different. Paxil is usually around 4 weeks and could be as long as 6.

Remember, all of these meds have the potential to make us worse. If you start to feel worse, call your doctor ok.
