After taking it how long does the calming affect take place and how long will it last? I was prescribed 1 mg but when I was n ativan I only took a half a mg and 1 when I really needed it.I’m only taking one fourth of the klonopin because I heard it was strong.

Klonopin (.25mg), which appears to be what you are taking is fairly fast-acting with a peak time of anywhere b/t 1-4 hours. It has a half-life of 30 hours, which means that it take 30 hours for half of the Klonopin to be metabolized by the body.
2.0mg of ativan is equal to 0.5mg of klonopin. So yes its is a bit more potent.Onset of action is usually within 1/2hr to 45 min depending on the person. Plan on it lasting around 6 hours or so…again depending on the person.
