I have run out of my meds and today is the 4th day in a row where I haven’t taken Paxil.
How long after stopping Paxil before I will experience discontinuation symptoms?

Suddenly ceasing your medication without proper medical advice/assistance is not only dangerous it is really not wise. Your withdrawl symptoms could be life threatening. These types of medication need to be slowly withdrawn (decreasing dosage over a period of weeks/months). Please get to the doctor and discuss this.
how do you feel?
I took that and those pills were huge, my liver was hating me
I was on them for a year and quit taking them on purpose to see if my body would once again start producing the chemicals for the brain that keep us calm and cool. After about a week, I noticed I had some possible "minor" depression sneaking back into my thoughts, So another week went by and the symptoms became only slightly more towards early depression symptoms but nothing overwhelming. but after a month, I began to cry about unimportant stuff so I went back on them. but after another year, I once again tried going off them on purpose, and no depression ever came back and that was 3 years ago. I had a serious back injury, a year of physical therapy that wasn’t working then finally a surgery that made it worse than ever in pain. The daily, hourly cronic pain and living life in a chair of course created major stress level which are most common in causing depression to begin with. By the second year on paxil, I finally had a second back surgery which diminished the resulting pain by 75 percent and I found for the first time in 2 years, I could do things again, the stress factors in my life were gone and as a result, I guess my body began making seratonin again. But you won’t go into deep depression in a week or anything. They will just sneak back slowly and creep up on you again. If you don’t find any recurring symptoms perhaps you no longer need paxil. But stay aware of your body, and when you do notice signs, get that script refilled. some people must take them all their lives. In my case I was lucky and the things in my life that were stress causing, I managed to get rid of and this was a great aid and resting period for my body to take paxil until i got to a calmer situation to begin with and in my case that was another and better back surgery. Daily stress for 50 percent of america who all now take anti depressants in america, is a sure sign that in 2009 the world is just a little more complex, and far to fast for us to keep up. Life is so overwhelming, it certainly does not do our depressed systems any good either. So be careful. Not sure why you quit taking them. Just stay aware of any early small symptoms of depression returning. if none appear after a month, you may not need them anymore. That depends on what caused your depression to begin with. Stress causes it. Some times it occurs after a single traumatic incident. Or injury, or long term stressful life style or illness. Abusive relationships, money worries, the list is so long my fingers would get tired. Just letting you know i quit taking them on purpose and had to go back on them. but as my particular home health situation changed, my need for them stopped as well over time.
But had I not had them, I would never had made it that two years to get that second back surgery which changed my life. I would have X’d myself out of that misery long before that. So take care, and keep yourself personally aware of what you need. if you are out of money, and thats why you are stopping them, then find your local mental health department by calling your local health department they will know who to tell you to call and they give out free sample packs. a month supply at a time, given to them by pharmaceuticals. Good luck and tc of yourself. if this is the only life we get, we darn sure better take care of ourselves and make the best of it. if thats means taking pills, that’s what it means. by any means necessary. We deserve something better than anxiety and depression taking control of our lives.
