Has anyone switched from Diovan 80 mg to a generic that worked the same?

I know Diovan is not in a generic, so what other drug would be the same.

Diovan is in the family of drugs know as the Sartan drugs or an angiotensin II receptor Blocker. As for other drugs in this class
- Atacand
- Avapro
- Benicar
- Cozaar
-Micardis
-Tevetan
Unfortunately None of the drugs in this class are available as a generic as of yet.
How ever a drug class that is very similar to this class the ACE inhibitors has a number of generic drugs available. This class of medications usually are more effective that the Ag II inhibitors however, their is one side effect that does bother some people enough that they will be switched to a Ag II inhibitors. The cough is a dry non-productive cough. Drugs in this class available as generic include:
- Quinapril
- Lisinopril
- Captopril
- Enalapril
- Benasapril
- Fosinopril
I hope this info helps
