If so what are the side affects and does it work well for migraine relief? Can I drive with it and work with it? Thanks!

  1. Okay, Fioricet is some pretty strong stuff. Its a combination of acetaminophen (pain relief), butalbital (muscle relaxant), and caffeine (blood vessel constriction). This is usually prescribed for tension headaches due to the fact that many people feel they are caused by muscle contractions.

This medicine will relax you (ie. impair your thinking and reactions.) For that reason driving is not recommended.

If you end up having to stop taking the medicine, butalbital will give you some nasty withdraw symptoms (seizures) if you do it too rapidly.

You would also need to make sure you do not take too much or combine with other acetaminophen products as it would be easy to ingest too much and cause liver problems.

  2. I use fioricet for migraines and it works great. if your taking it "as needed" for the migraine(meaning not every day) the is almost no change of having withdrawal symptoms since its not taken every day. it might make you sleepy…it might not it does have caffeine in it….it actually wakes me up….figure out how it’s going to affect you before you drive and stuff.
