Has anyone else suffered extreme mood swings while taking Chantix?

by Admin on February 4, 2010

About 6 weeks ago i started taking Chantix to help me stop smoking. It has helped my cravings, but almost immediately i noticed myself becoming extremely angry and irritable. I wake up angry most of the time, and am prone to "snapping" at the drop of a hat. Normally im a pretty laid back guy, and am just wondering, am i the only one that has noticed this side affect?

I was only able to physically tolerate Chantix for 4 weeks related to nausea , fortunately I was was able to quit smoking . The nausea was awful for me , I was irritable but I think that was related to my lifestyle changes,The habits related to my cigarettes I had to change . I went outside with my friends and smoked , I smoked after meals , I called a certain friend every day when I smoked outside , I smoked when I was stressed , I smoked before I had a challenge to meet ,after meals , I rewarded my self with cigarettes etc …… I did avoid some of my friends for awhile , because they smoked . Everything in my life was effected some way by my cigarettes and the habits I acquired by smoking….I never realized the drug nicotine affected so much , my heart rate , my sleep , it sped me up ,made me hyper….. When I stopped it , I was irritable , depressed because I had to change many things I had did and the way I did them ……Also I did not realize how bad smokers smell until I quit , I am embarrassed to think I smelled like smokers do…….
http://www.CHANTIX.com has lots of good info …

Good Luck , being irritable is better than the irreversible side effects of cigarettes …Keep with it ! :)
