I have been taking Kariva for 2 weeks. My periods are generally long (~7 days), but my most recent one lasted 10 days. Also, I’m experiencing a lot of vaginal bleeding. My Ob/Gyn told me to expect some spotting as a side effect, but this seems excessive (4-5 times a day – enough to wear a tampon full time). Has anyone else had similar problems? Did they go away after the first month or two? Thanks in advance.

Everyone has unique experiences when taking new medications. However, I have been on Mircette for years, and my period actually shortened and got lighter shortly after going on it. I would wait it out a little longer to see if your body adapts to the birth control. If not, go back to your doctor and you may need to try a different type. I know a lot of friends who had to try a few brands before they found the right one for them. Best of luck!
