I found out yesterday (due to a nasty skin rash) that I am allergic to sulfur.
I have had 3 surgeries this year and have been given Dilaudid every time. With no reaction.
Can you tell me if Dilaudid or Morphine contain sulfur? I am worried about post surgical pain relief, as I am having a radical hysterectomy and tumor removal in Oct.
Thank you!
Are you allergic to Sulfur, the element, or Sulfa, a class of antibiotics?
Very few people are truly allergic to sulfur but a Sulfa drug allergy is quite common.
Neither Dilaudid (hydromorphone) or morphine contain sulfur atom(s) nor do they have a Sulfa functional group.

No.
Hydromorphone ("Dilaudid") is C17H19NO3, or 4,5-?-epoxy-3-hydroxy-17-methyl morphinan-6-one….no sulfurs in there…and morphine is C17H19NO3, or (5?,6?)-7,8-didehydro- 4,5-epoxy-17-methylmorphinan-3,6-diol…. no sulfurs in there, either!
Best wishes with your surgeries…
