This question is inspired by Mustang Nik’s generic drug question. I always do. Why pay more for the "name" that’s on the product? I buy these generic potato chips from Wal*Mart and I like them better than the brand name chips. Ok, answer carefully and thanks!!!

I do when I either prefer the taste/texture, or when I find no diffference in the taste/texture.
There are times when I find a particular brand superior in taste or texture, and will then buy that brand, however that is over both generic, AND other name brands.

In any event, I buy some things name brand but most things generic. Some things I buy only name brand are soda, iced tea, bread, ketchup, pasta sauce, and cereal. I just don’t like the generic versions. Mostly anything else, I am not picky about and buy whatever is the cheapest.

The packaging is ugly and cheap which means the ingredients are cheap.

For many items I find that generics are of equal quality and I buy them all the time. But there are a few products where the generic versions just don’t cut it. I challenge anyone to find any generic or store brand imitiation of Oreos that tastes like the real thing.
yea i buy generic, brand name products are like triple the price sometimes! and we just can’t afford that in our household wether it’s tastier or not. I do find generic brands to be very tasty though! ^-^
yes who ever dont is just stupid and my fav food is……. Fuddruckers, I get a big cheeseburger and some french fries with cheese sauce and i add jalapeno too the fries and burger, and top it off with a chocolate milkshake. My next favorite would be this place called Coney Island when i go there i get a Gyro and some tapioca . From mcdonalds get a bacon ranch salad. taco bell chicken gordita.
Sometimes. It all depends. I buy generic paper products quite often. Some things I won’t settle for though. I have to have Hellman’s mayo. Although I have tried Stop and Shop brand and it’s pretty close in taste.

We buy both generic or name brands depending on the product. We will try the generic and if we don’t like it will go back to using the name brand. One store in town has really good store brand canned goods. We try to save money when we can.
