What prometrium does is it increased your progesterone during the luteal phase. What this is , is when the uterine lining gets all "fluffy" and ready to sustain a pregnancy. If the progesterone is low, then there isn't enought uterine lining to keep the pregnancy and implant. Prometrium will help with that. But if an egg did not fertilize then a normal period will occur. Periods are when the unterine lining sheds and the body expells the lining which ends up making you bleed. Thus, your period.
