I was taking 80 mg of Prednisone for 5 days (no weaning), and then 10 mg of Decadron for 2 days (again, no weaning), and tonight — the first night off both medications — I’m having chest pain and palpitations. Is this normal or dangerous? I’m otherwise pretty healthy (or at least as far as heart concerns go anyway), but my chest is in a lot of pain and I’m afraid that I’m going to have a heart attack or something! It’s making me anxious too, which is only adding to the problems. Please help! I’m normal weight and in my late teens. I was on the steroids for asthma and airway swelling. I’m also taking Zanaflex for a spinal injury, which makes me drowsy — that seems to slow my heart rate down, so would that be good to take or dangerous? Thank you so much for help A.S.A.P.!

OK as a paramedic. Yes this is bad. You need to be weaned off of these drugs. 80mgs is a lot of Prednisone. Go see your Dr or go to the ER NOW. Palpitations are bad for your heart, they may be damaging your heart.
You better call 911, you are having reaction to the meds.
