I seem to remember my kids doctor saying that I could give these four hours apart. I gave my daughter, whose 14 mo a dose of ibuprofen about 5 hours ago but her fever is going back up. I can’t give her another dose of ibuprofen for another 2 hours. Anybody else heard of this?

Not at the same time but yes you can. You can alternate them. Dr. always told me to alternate Tylenol and Motrin every 2-4 hours.
Yes, My daughter was having a high fever last week. Tylenol and room temperature bath wasn;t working anymore. I ended up taking to the er and found ear infection.
I given her tylenol at 3 and they told me at 5 pm to give her motrin.
I may suggest a second opinion of another pediatrician. more than one medicine can be harmful for the baby!
I often give my kids both medicines when their fevers are high. I switch back and forth throughout the day. Tylenol will be effective for about 4-6 hours and the ibuprofen for 6-8 hours. So, when one starts to wear off, you can give the other. I usually use the ibuprofen in the evenings, before bed when the fever is highest. It seems to last longer and is more effective. There was one time that my 2 year old’s fever was 104 and the ER doctor actually said I could give him both meds at the same time. But, I wouldn’t do that without the doctor telling me to.
I would call a local clinic or hospital or if there is a local nursing or doctor line (depending on where you live) and ask them. You can even call the local pharmacy most pharmacists are well educated and will be able to tell you
Yes you can use both together but space them out a bit.
We have to be careful when our son gets a fever because he has seizures. The ER doctors always tell us, and they also do this, id give Tylenol first if that doesn’t bring the fever down in 1.5 hours THEN give Ibuprofen. If this still doesn’t bring the fever down, obv take them to the ER.
Remember to write down the time each was given so you don’t get mixed up. Tylenol atleast every 4hrs and Ibuprofen atleast every 6. No sooner than those times.
Please remember that it takes some time for any fever to subside. These two drugs act non specifically to bring down the temperature but do not cure any disease. Continue other medication as advised and take the child to the doctor if the fever does not subside within two days or if the child appears sick at any time.
When my daughter went to the ER for a fever they gave her Tylenol and Motrin together for a fever. I’d double check with the advice nurse though.
of course -tylenol can be given every 4 hours & advil every 6 hours. wash all hands better, give the child plenty of water, put her in a warm bath, and avoid bundling her. use the bulb syringe with saline drops to keep her airway clear & call the pediatrician for medical questions.
Yes, as long as your child is over 12 months and thus can safely take motrin, and even at the same time, to start, but they have different schedules after the first dose.. don’t give either of them more often than the label recommends.
