Can I give my cat Norvasc instead of Fortekor?

Only if your veterinarian says it is okay, I have never heard of the other drug before. *Some human drugs can be extremely toxic to animals*

I participated in a study of Norvasc in cats to see if regulating high blood pressure would slow the advance of kidney disease. Human Norvasc is WAY too potent for a cat. You would have to get a script from your vet. When we prescribed Norvasc to cats outside the study, the pills had to be cut. The bad part was that the coating on the pills just makes them shatter rather than cutting, so dosing was inaccurate at best. They may have veterinary Norvasc out now, but I’m not sure. It’s been awhile since I worked in a hospital.
