A couple friends of mine and I are planning on going to a golf outing this weekend. I found out monday I have strep throat and have been on amoxicillin since then. The outing is saturday. My throat no longer hurts and it’s still not even Friday yet. Would I be ok to drink this weekend and not fall back into a terrible sore throat since by the time I start I will have five days of the medication in me? I feel normal now but am just afraid it will come back if i drink. I know it’s ok to drink on amoxicillin but I just don’t wanna have another sore throat. Thanks!
I am takin a break but we have been plannin this weekend for like 2 months. Otherwise if it was just some random weekend i wouldnt have an issue with not drinking however it’s been planned for a while.

You usually don’t want to mix antibiotics for 24-48 hours after your last dose. Either don’t drink, or maybe ease off on the medicine if you have to. As for the alcohol, it may aggravate your throat, but probably not enough to the point where you would have a sore throat.
No give yourself more time to heal. Alcohol depletes you of vitamins so you may suffer a relapse
you can but i wouldnt take the pill with alcohol just space it out like take you pill 5 hours befor you drink.

No. It is not ok to drink with amoxillin. It stops working and with amoxil if you dont complete the course it doesn’t work properly and if you subsequently have to use it again at some future time it won’t work well if at all.
The rule of thumb is not to drink when taking antibiotics because the alcohol robs your system of the good of the medication. You would probably be all right to have a couple of drinks for one day only but remember to take all the medication.
The alcohol SHOULDN"T affect the sore throat, since its base is viral. Be careful with the alcohol, although you know that it’s ok to drink while on this medication.
it won’t make your throat sore again but you really shouldn’t drink while on medication like that.
Take a break from the drinks man. They’ll still be there when you get better.
If you HAVE to drink with your buddies, drink 1!!! beer. After that get the alcohol free beer or a club soda with lime if your buds will give you a hard time if you are caught not drinking. I will drink vodka tonics when I go out and alternate with the club soda w/lime. Keeps me sober and no grief from "friends". But you should not be drinking AT ALL while on amoxicillin.
