Can i drink Alcohol if i’m taking atenolol?

by Admin on December 7, 2009

I have been prescribed atenolol, that i have been taking for a while. As well as that i am taking some water tablets (For my high blood pressure). I am planning a get together soon and i am wondering whether anybody knows, if i can skip a day from taking tablets and have a drink. I know you can’t drink alcohol and take the tablets, but does anyone know what would happen if i missed a day and had a drink.

Thank You

Who told you you can’t have a drink if you take beta blockers and a diuretic? Not true. I suggest you don’t skip your meds and a drink or two is fine.

You CAN’T just skip a day. That’s ridiculous. The drug is still in your bloodstream, especially if you’ve been taking it for a while.

Be careful with the alcohol. Combined with the drugs it might make you drowsy and/or dizzy. Be careful. Definitely don’t do anything like driving.
