Can i ask for the generic version of a drug?

If my doctor has prescribed me a medication can i ask the pharmacist to give me the generic version instead?

Yes! Definitely! You should ask your doctor, so he doesn’t write "prescribe as directed." If he does and it comes in a generic, your pharmacist has do fill as directed by your doctor. Good luck and good thinking of a way to save a bunch of $$.

Yes!! In fact, it’s recommended. Generics are much cheaper, and usually just about the SAME thing as brand name products. By all means, ask your pharmacist. Or even your doctor.

Yes go for it. I work at a pharmacy and we have to ask customers if they would prefer the generic brand. Although, not all drugs have a generic equivalent.

Yes you can and it will be much cheaper for you. Tell your doctor that you prefer generic drugs. I use generic unless there is not one available.
