Can anyone tell me what the effects of Lipitor are?

What happens when someone stops taking Lipitor?
I really need to know, please and thank you.
Specific question:
What would a stroke patient be taking Lipitor for? And what happens if they stop taking it?

Liptor is a cholesterol lowering drug. It lowers cholesterol levels in your body. High lipid levels are a risk factor for heart disease. Sometimes medication is necessary to reduce cholesterol levels.

Edit
High cholesterol levels put people at risk from cardiovascular events such as MI and stroke. Keeping cholesterol levels low, reduces this risk. If a stroke patient stops taking statins they are at a greater risk of having a stroke, heart attack etc.

Liptior is a statin. It stimulates your liver into creating more LDL receptors that pick up the "bad" cholestrol from your blood and convert it into bile. If someone stops taking, you would likely see an increase in LDL (bad cholestrol) levels. Stroke patients might be taking it to prevent cholestrol buildup in arteries that could cause future strokes. It is also anti-inflammatory
