My baby is 4 months old and has been diagnosed with acid reflux she is always spitting up and is very uncomfortable. Does anyone have good or bad experience with zantac or prevacid? I am a little leery to giver her medication everyday, but she she just seems so uncomfortable.
Prevacid was a Godsend for us. We tried the Zantac and it "teased" us for a couple of days while her screaming would subside….but then it would come back.
Three days on Prevacid and she was a different baby. She became so happy.
I was freaked out to about medication but the phramacist at our Target has a reflux baby and has her on Prevacid so I decided it must be okay.

My baby has the same thing!
It bothers her to sleep on her back and so now she sleeps in a swing.
She used to throw up across the room- no joke- and in large amounts.
The Dr gave her baby Zantac and she has been doing really well ever since. Tho she still spits up a little but nothing like before!
They also don’t have to be on it long term.. only long enough to get over the spitting up stage!
I ask the pharmacist to put grape flavoring in it for her so it wont taste so nasty!

Nope. I wish I could tell you a sucessful story, however, Neither one of those Medications helped my Daughter. Her AR was terrible. She was constantly spitting up all day long. She was prescribed Zantac first and it helped no whatsoever. Next, was Prevacid, it did not help at all either.
Basically, She had AR from about the time she was born up until she was about 9 months old. Then, its like it magically went away. I hope the meds help your Daughter, but they did not help mine. Hope it works! Good luck!

my son’s doctor prescribed a low dosage of prevacid (half a pill every morning), and it worked very well with no side effects. he outgrew the problem in a month and was able to stop taking it.
best of luck.

We tried zantac and it didn’t help much. It kept his food down ok but it didn’t make him more comfortable. We ended up using a chiropractor instead which worked really well. They don’t do bone popping on babies, it’s very gentle and he never minded going.

My daughter responded very well to zantac. It worked in a few days. She stopped throwing up and spitting up. She gained a lot weight after taking zantac. She was only on it for two months. We reduced the two doses to one and then eventually dropped the medication altogether. My daughter was very happy once we started her on Zantac. I know you’re leary but if your Dr prescribe it, you should just give it a try. If you don’t have confidence in your pediatrician then you should switch.

zantac worked for us; they will still spit up; neither med stops that, they just stop the acid…
