Actos and lasix?

by Admin on September 2, 2010

Does anyone take these two medicines? I’ve been on actos for about 5 months and just started taking lasix last week and I have been very very nauseous and I was looking at drug interactions and it says not to take the 2 together. I was just wondering if anyone else has gotten sick from taking these two medications.
Here’s my list of meds…Actos,Glucovance,Byetta,Lotrel,Vytorin and I just started with the Lasix and Prozac..if anyone has had any interactions on any of these combinations please let me know. Thanks

tmj,

Call your pharmacist – ask if they are to be taken together. If they say ‘yes’, tell them about the labelling. I’d follow their lead on the final answer. BUT, also call your physician’s office at the same time – some drug reactions are extremely rare but the DO exist. Don’t fool around with it though. And good luck!

If mixed diuretics and antihypoglycaemics can push your blood sugar too low but don’t really interact too much and are pretty safe together.

However the most common side effect of pioglitazone (actos) is nausea. I suspect that you are just sensitive to this particular drug given that you started it a week ago. See if your GP has any alternatives to keep the diabetes at bay.

Your medication needs may change if you become sick or injured, if you have a serious infection, or if you have any type of surgery. Your doctor may want you to stop taking Actos for a short time if any of these situations affect you.
