Aciphex Sodium Side Effects?

by Admin on January 13, 2010

I’ve been taking Aciphex for 3 months for GERD. The last 6 weeks or so, i’ve noticed every time I eat something with a lot of sodium (i.e. Hot Dog, Cold Cuts, etc.) I get an immediate head rush, feel like i’m swelling up, headache etc then it goes away in about 20 minutes. I have never really felt this way other then some times where I ate a ton of take out Chinese. Aciphex is made of sodium, can this be triggering these extreme reactions to the high sodium?

Aciphex does list minor headaches as a side effect. You may also have an allergy to MSG or to nitrates. Cold cuts & hot dogs are full of nitrates & many other preservatives & additives that may cause this reaction. If you suffer from GERD you might want to stay away from those foods anyway.

As a replacement try chicken & vegetables in your Wok hold the soy sauce. You might also substitute lean grilled chicken sandwich in place of the cold cuts. Turkey hot dogs are also more easily digested.
